We are aware of our responsibility

The construction and real estate industry offers enormous potential for reducing CO2 emissions and for the efficient use of natural resources, while also playing a key role in shaping living, working, and economic spaces. For these reasons, it bears a special responsibility for shaping a sustainable future. We aim to contribute to this by developing solutions—from Development through to building operations—that reduce negative environmental impacts and positively influence the development of urban spaces.

The challenges are manifold: climate protection and decarbonization, adaptation to climate risks, increasing regulatory requirements, and the promotion of a resource-efficient circular economy and biodiversity are shaping the industry’s transformation.

Our sustainability strategy provides the framework for our goals and actions. It helps us meet regulatory requirements, capitalize on market opportunities, and make a positive contribution to society and the environment. In doing so, we focus in particular on the areas where we have the greatest impact. At the same time, our strategy is continuously evolving to address changing challenges.

Environment

Our greatest leverage in the environmental sector lies in the projects we develop and build. Climate protection and climate resilience are of particular importance in this context. This involves, on the one hand, tracking and reducing greenhouse gas emissions and, on the other hand, addressing climate-related risks. We also place a strong emphasis on biodiversity and the circular economy.

Social Issues

The “Work Environment & Employees” focus area centers on maintaining and promoting attractive and safe working conditions, as well as the health and development opportunities of our employees. Furthermore, through our business activities, we actively shape the urban environment and, thereby, the living spaces of many people. In our projects, we therefore place great importance on creating high-quality living spaces, for example, by ensuring a high degree of functionality and user comfort.

Governance

Through transparency and reporting, we make our goals, progress, and challenges clear. We conduct our business in compliance with social and legal standards and establish a clear framework to fulfill our responsibilities toward our stakeholders—this is what we expect of ourselves, but also of our business partners. This is summarized under the action area “Responsible Value Creation.”
