A new mixed-use urban complex is being built on the land formerly occupied by the headquarters of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung newspaper in the popular Gallus district of Frankfurt. Together with F.A.Z. and Frankfurter Societät, Bauwens is developing a diverse residential and commercial district on the two-hectare site.
In the near future, 506 rental apartments will be built here on a gross floor area of 82,000 square meters, 30 percent of which will be publicly subsidized. In addition, 17,000 square meters of office space and 3,500 square meters for retail and restaurants will be created.
Two daycare centers and a new school are planned on the neighboring land, complementing the family-friendly environment. The complex impresses with a well-thought-out perimeter block structure that blends harmoniously into the existing, mature surroundings. The heart of the complex is formed by the inner courtyards with spacious gardens and recreational areas that invite residents to linger.
