The commercial building at Große Bleichen 19 in Hamburg was commissioned by Aachener Grundvermögen Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH to fill a special gap in the city's real estate landscape: The land between Bleichenfleet and the shopping street in the heart of Hamburg is just 15 meters wide, but an impressive 80 meters deep.
Based on plans by Tchoban Voss Architekten, we have constructed six floors with a total gross floor area of 6,700 square meters. Small, interconnected office spaces suitable for leasing were created on the second to fifth floors. The central section is broken up by light wells. The architectural language of the building is inspired by its surroundings and is reflected in the brick façade of the new building.
Due to the exposed location and geometry of the construction project, the particular challenge lay in the logistical implementation of the project. Concepts tailored to the construction project were developed, taking into account the inner-city location and the requirements of the immediate surroundings.
In the "Best Commercial Building" category, the Große Bleichen 19 project was one of the winners of the ABB LEAF Awards 2019. This award is an annual international architecture prize for innovative architectural design.
