The non-profit building cooperative "Grundstein" eG is committed to the comprehensive renovation of a cooperative housing estate in Cologne's Raderberg district. The project on Mannsfelder Strasse covers a living space of 7,000 square meters and offers space for a total of 86 apartments.
The old buildings have been replaced by modern houses that offer tenants generous private outdoor spaces. On the south side, the buildings were given free-standing balcony galleries with sliding shutters that blend playfully into the façade. In the northern area, garden plots were created for the residents.
Bauwens was responsible for the turnkey construction. The entire project was completed in June 2024.
