At Scheidtweiler Straße 44–48 in Cologne-Braunsfeld, Bauwens constructed five new residential buildings and 11 commercial units for Die Ehrenfelder Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgenossenschaft eG. The existing buildings, which dated back to the 1950s, were in dire need of renovation, so they were demolished in the fall of 2022. This cleared the way for the construction of the “Langhaus Braunsfeld.”
The concept developed by the architectural firm Damrau Kusserow called for a 130-meter-long structure along Scheidtweiler Straße. A total of 76 residential units were created across a living space of approximately 6,600 square meters. The apartments were designed to accommodate various lifestyles and included family apartments, single-person apartments, and lofts. Eleven commercial units with a total area of approximately 1,500 square meters were also built on the ground floor.
The underground parking garage was equipped with 42 parking spaces and 218 bicycle parking spaces. In addition, another 70 bicycle parking spaces were created above ground.
