At Scheidtweiler Straße 44-48 in Cologne-Braunsfeld, Bauwens is constructing five residential buildings and 11 commercial units for Die Ehrenfelder Gemeinnützige Wohnungsgenossenschaft eG. The buildings, which date back to the 1950s, were in urgent need of renovation, so they were demolished in autumn 2022 to make way for the new "Langhaus Braunsfeld" development.
The concept by architects Damrau Kusserow envisages a 130-meter-long building along Scheidtweiler Strasse. A total of 76 residential units will be built on a living space of approximately 6,600 square meters. The apartments offer space for a wide variety of lifestyles, whether family apartments, single apartments, or lofts. Eleven commercial units with a total area of 1,500 square meters are planned for the ground floor.
The underground car park will have 42 parking spaces and 218 bicycle parking spaces. In addition, a further 70 bicycle parking spaces will be created above ground. Construction began in summer 2023.
