A modern and contemporary new school building with a multi-purpose hall and cafeteria is being built on the approximately 2-hectare site of the Schulzentrum Nord school center in Niederkassel Lülsdorf.
The new complex will comprise a six-story school building, a three-part multi-purpose hall, and a cafeteria. The extension to the classrooms is planned as a three-story building with specially designed learning clusters. The building will also house administrative offices. The versatile multi-purpose hall will be used as a triple sports hall, for traditional events and by clubs and associations.
The school cafeteria, which seats 384, will be partly two-storey and will house a dining hall and a modern "cook-chill kitchen."
In addition to its educational approach, the new school building also meets high standards for a modern energy concept. The photovoltaic systems covering the roofs of the school and the triple sports hall, as well as the use of a heat pump system and geothermal energy, will make an important contribution to energy efficiency. Outside, a new paved schoolyard with various seating and play areas and landscaping will be created, along with several decentralized bicycle parking spaces and car parking spaces.
