    Bauwens designed and built the new office and administrative building in Essen for AOK Rheinland/Hamburg. The health insurance company’s new regional headquarters, which consolidates several organizational units, was developed as part of a public competitive bidding process for which Bauwens qualified as part of a joint venture with Hochtief Development.

    Even during the construction phase, the sale of the property was conducted via a share deal with Hannover Leasing to a closed-end public fund.

    The design concept developed by Bauwens in collaboration with JSWD Architects forms the basis of an approach that is both urbanistically and economically sound for a needs-based property that harmoniously integrates into its surroundings as the gateway to Essen’s new “Grüne Mitte” (Green Center).

    Within 20 months, a modern office building with a total leasable area of 14,400 square meters was completed. In addition, there is a single-story underground parking garage with 125 parking spaces.
