The office building at Große Bleichen 19 in Hamburg, commissioned by Aachener Grundvermögen Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaft mbH, filled a unique gap in the urban fabric: The land between Bleichenfleet and the shopping street in the heart of Hamburg is just 15 meters wide, but an impressive 80 meters deep.
Based on plans by Tchoban Voss Architekten, we constructed six stories with a total gross floor area of 6,700 square meters. From the second to the fifth floor, we created office spaces that can be leased in small units or as a single contiguous area. The central section is broken up by atriums. The building’s architectural style is inspired by its surroundings and is reflected in the new building’s brick facade.
Due to the building’s prominent location and the geometry of the construction project, the logistical execution of the project posed a particular challenge. To address this, concepts tailored to the project were developed, taking into account the inner-city location and the requirements of the immediate surroundings.
In the “Best Commercial Building” category, the Große Bleichen 19 project is among the winners of the 2019 ABB LEAF Award. This award is an annual international architecture prize for innovative architectural design.
