A new office building made from resource-saving materials and featuring a sustainable energy concept is being constructed on a land area measuring around 1,500 square meters at Berlin's Nollendorfplatz.
Next to the Metropol Theater, also known as the Schauspielhaus am Nollendorfplatz, a six-story building is being constructed that extends T-shaped into the depth of the land. A café will be set up in the foyer, creating an open and inviting atmosphere. The resulting office space will cover around 5,000 square meters.
The north facade, an essential part of the winning design by the architectural firm HENN, will be incorporated into the project. The facade is divided into a 5.40-meter grid, and the upper offices will have floor-to-ceiling curved windows with frames made of recycled copper.
The building will be equipped with high-quality facade surfaces, efficient sun protection, and a renewable heating and cooling system. A ventilation system with heat recovery and low pressure loss will provide fresh air. Photovoltaic systems will generate renewable electricity on site, which will be used both for the operation of the building and for the energy consumption of the tenants.
The project is aiming for certification by the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and is expected to receive the WELL Platinum certificate. In addition, the Efficiency House Standard 40 in accordance with the Federal Subsidy for Efficient Buildings (BEG) is being targeted.
