Extensive renovation of existing buildings within a construction period of one year
The revitalization of the existing buildings was carried out within a construction period of 12 months by apoprojekt as general contractor. The conversion and renovation cost €27.5 million. In order to meet the tenant's requirements, both existing buildings were almost completely gutted. The conversion and renovation work included converting the former office complexes into high-quality lecture, administration, and practice rooms, as well as creating a spacious library on the first floor. An old carriage hall was also converted into a modern cafeteria with a large kitchen and a spacious outdoor terrace.
The outdoor facilities surrounding the building complex, with their seating areas and green spaces, are an inviting meeting place for students. An underground car park offers parking spaces for a total of 645 bicycles and 91 cars. Particularly noteworthy are the practical rooms on the ground floor at Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 25, which were specially designed for prospective occupational therapists at the EUFH.
"I am certain that both universities will enrich the Rodenkirchen district," said Alexander Jacobi, Managing Partner of Bauwens Development GmbH & Co. KG, in his opening speech. "Here on campus, you can enjoy a good student life."
