Jochen Kral, Deputy Mayor of Düsseldorf and Head of the Department of Mobility and Environment, welcomed those present at the start of the event and emphasized the importance of green infrastructure for a livable city: "With the new green space in the heart of the new complex, a place is growing that is more than just a scenic accent – the 3,600 square meter area is a place that will connect future generations, with a playground, boules court, and lots of green space. In urban apartment complexes, a place like this where people can meet and slow down is a real gift. I am therefore all the more delighted that this place will be handed over to the state capital Düsseldorf as a public green space."

The symbolic handover of the new green space marked the official highlight of the celebration. Afterwards, visitors took the opportunity to chat over snacks and cool drinks.

Katrin Eming, Managing Director of DIE WOHNKOMPANIE NRW, said in her welcoming speech: "With the central and spacious park, we have reached another very important milestone in the development of our VIERZIG549 neighborhood, as the green spaces and play and leisure facilities will ensure the desired quality of life and leisure time. We are delighted for the residents who have already moved in and for future users."

Matthias Terfrüchte, Division Manager at Bauwens Development, added: "With the opening of the new urban green space, we are creating a lively meeting place for the neighborhood and making an important contribution to sustainable urban development. Our goal is to design places that connect people and ensure quality of life in the long term."

Special thanks go to LILL + SPARLA landscape architects from Cologne, who drew up the final design plans and contributed significantly to the implementation of the playground and green spaces.
