Bauwens Launches New Business Area B | Lite – Anett Barsch Takes Over as Managing Director
The Bauwens Group is strengthening its leadership team: Effective September 1, 2026, Anett Barsch will assume the role of managing director of the newly created B | Lite business area. With this experienced real estate manager, Bauwens is gaining a proven expert in residential construction and Development, who will be responsible for establishing and further developing the business area.
Through B | Lite, Bauwens will consolidate its activities in the area of Development for affordable and efficient housing. The goal is to establish a market offering that enables residential projects that are economically viable, attractive, and tailored to market needs. To this end, B | Lite relies on standardized and scalable development approaches that can be applied to different locations and projects, thereby enabling more efficient implementation.

For Anett Barsch, the social relevance of the issue is central: “The demand for affordable housing remains as high as ever. At the same time, the conditions for developing new residential projects have become significantly more challenging in recent years. With B | Lite, we want to help make more economically viable residential projects possible again and thus contribute to the creation of urgently needed housing.”
The new building expands the existing school campus on Kopernikusstraße with a six-track school building featuring modern learning clusters, a three-part multipurpose hall, and a new cafeteria. In total, the school complex has a gross floor area of approximately 16,700 square meters. Of this, approximately 11,000 square meters are allocated to the school building, around 4,300 square meters to the sports hall, and just over 1,300 square meters to the cafeteria, which seats 384 and features a modern “cook-and-chill” kitchen. The buildings are connected via a shared foyer and form a structured school campus.
In addition to the functional requirements of a modern school building, special emphasis was placed on energy efficiency and durability. The energy concept combines photovoltaic systems, geothermal energy, and heat pump technology. The outdoor facilities are currently being completed and include a newly designed schoolyard as well as areas for recreation, play, and bicycle parking. The temporary structures on the site will be dismantled over the course of the summer so that the school complex will be fully operational in time for the start of the school year on September 1, 2026.
“From the laying of the cornerstone to completion, the project took just over two years. Despite the high technical and organizational demands, we were able to complete the school complex within the agreed budget and on schedule. A key factor in our success was the excellent collaboration with regional tradespeople, including the structural contractor Klein from Niederkassel,” says Karsten Mohr, Division Manager at Bauwens Construction.
Bauwens was commissioned by the city of Niederkassel as the General contractor to deliver the Schulzentrum Nord on a turnkey basis. With the completion of the project, the city now has a modern educational infrastructure that accommodates rising student numbers and is designed for the long term.
