Completed Waldviertel complex in Cologne-Rodenkirchen stands for modern living in green surroundings

The recently completed Waldviertel enriches the Cologne-Rodenkirchen district with a modern and barrier-free residential complex with park-like landscaping. A lively complex has been built on the approximately 22,000 square meter plot of land between Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse, Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse, and Bahnstrasse. Thirteen residential buildings with a total of 272 one- to five-room apartments, a three-group daycare center, and two commercial units were completed after three years of construction. The joint project by Bauwens and Convalor was acquired in 2018 along with additional neighboring building sites, with Bauwens Construction responsible for construction.

Landscaped interior area with playground and close proximity to light rail and Grüngürtel park
The Waldviertel district impresses above all with its contemporary living concept and modern architecture. All apartments are barrier-free and equipped with a digital locking system, among other features. A central parcel box allows residents to receive parcels conveniently and securely in the immediate vicinity. Sustainable energy is provided by a dedicated combined heat and power plant, which supplies efficient electricity and heating, and there are charging stations for electric cars in the underground car park.
A highlight of the Waldviertel is the central, generously landscaped interior area with a playground. Twelve trees up to ten meters high were specially selected for this purpose from a tree nursery in Venlo. "We were often ridiculed for the name Waldviertel. Now in spring, the trees are blooming beautifully and the green spaces are shining in all their glory. We have invested heavily here," says Alexander Jacobi, managing partner of Bauwens Development GmbH & Co. KG. "The fact that all apartments and commercial units have been sold shows the great interest people have in Rodenkirchen. Together with the Klett Campus, a truly vibrant complex has been created."
The Waldviertel offers perfect tram connections and is in the immediate vicinity of the Grüngürtel. The center of Rodenkirchen is just a few minutes away on foot or by bike, where there are numerous local shops in the immediate vicinity. The banks of the Rhine, schools, and other daycare centers are within 800 meters. Two renowned universities, CBS International Business School and EUFH University of Applied Sciences for Health, Social and Education, recently moved into the Klett Campus adjacent to the Waldviertel. The universities will enrich the district not only academically but also culturally.
